Turkish Shekerpare Dessert Recipe


Moist Semolina Cookies

Ingredients for Şekerpare Cookies

100 g of Butter
100 ml of Vegetable Oil
2 Cups of Flour
2 Wggs
3 Tbsp of Powdered Sugar
2 Tbsp of Coconut Flakes
2 Tbsp of Semolina
1 Pck of Baking Powder
1 Pck of Vanilla Sugar

Ingredients for The Syrup

2.5 Cups of Sugar
2.5 Cups of Water
1/4 Lemon
1 egg for brushing 
Nuts and Pistachios for Decoration


Pour water in a cooking pot


Add sugar


Add sugar


Once it starts to boil, add lemon juice, mix and let it cools down



Transfer butter in bowl


Add powdered sugar



Pour vegetable oil


Check below for the list of ingredients


Add eggs


Add vanilla sugar and coconut flakes

Add semolina



Keep mixing with adding flour and baking powder



Make a dough of earlobe consistency




Roll into balls and flatten them a bit




Add a teaspoon of olive oil to egg yolk to give shine



Brush them with the egg yolk




Use a fork to shape the top of cookies



Put a nut on the centre of other cookies




Bake at 180 C (360 F) for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown



Once remove the cookies from oven, pour warm syrup



You can serve it after the syrup"s absorbed
